The three-day seminar programme will run during Ecobuild next year at the ExCel exhibition March 3-5 in collaboration with the National BIM Survey. The training is designed to cover every level from basics to technical, and is aimed at the entire BIM chain, including architects, designers, engineers, surveyors and facilities managers, the organisers said.

“Our latest National BIM Report showed that awareness of BIM is now universal in the UK at 95%,” said Ian Chapman, director of the NBS library and director buildSmart UK. The challenge is the lack of confidence the industry has in implementing it. The lack of in-house expertise is one of the biggest barriers to successful adoption.”

All government departments are due to operate fully collaborative BIM in 2016, but a spokesperson said there remains considerable disparity in understanding and a lack of implementation case studies.

Alison Jackson, a director at Ecobuild, said there was a wealth of BIM knowledge available that just needed showcasing. She said 75% of visitors to the last Ecobuild said seminars were important and 85% of architects said it was the most important aspect of their visit.
