Europe’s largest wood pallet producer, Faber Halbertsma Group (FHG), has stated its international ambitions by acquiring German pallet pool PAKi Logistics.

Faber, based in the Netherlands, said acquiring the €40m turnover PAKi operation strengthened its position in the European market.

“The pooling activities and the expanded network of PAKi Logistics in the European market are a complementary addition to the international pooling activities of FHG,” said Ingrid Faber, CEO of FHG.

“It allows us to offer our full-line services on a wider scale.”

“As our products and services are complementary to those offered by FHG, the enlarged group will be in a stronger position going forward,” added Christian Kühnhold, CEO of PAKi Logistics.

PAKi Logistics will be rebranded FHG PAKi. It organises 10,000 pooling stations and more than two million pallets, boxes and plastic load carriers in Europe.

FHG comprises 17 subsidiaries operating in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and the UK that produce, hire, repair and trade pallets. Nine group factories produce around 18 milion wooden pallets annually.

Following the acquisition, FHG’s turnover will increase to around €300m, with more than 800 employees.

FHG’s UK operation is based in Coventry and is part of the IPP Logipal pallet pool business.
