Three million teak and rubber trees could be planted alongside 5,000km of roads in Malaysia to raise money for Felda settlers.
In 15 years’ time the mature trees would be worth M$150bn.
Felda chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor said the plan was to maximise land use to generate profit for settlers. Each kilometre could be planted with 600 trees and discussions are to be held with the Agriculture Ministry and Forest Research Institute Malaysia on seedling supplies.
