Landscape Skills 2004, a national competition to provide NVQ training for young horticulturists, is being backed by Finnforest UK Ltd.
The support means that for the first time a competition can be held in the UK, allowing the UK to be represented at the bi-annual World Skills competition in Helsinki in 2005.
Landscape Skills will run competitions throughout the summer, with four-person teams working to complete a 5x6m landscape project from scratch in just six hours. The winners of each event will attend the national final at GLEE, with the winners of the final going on to Helsinki.
Finnforest has supplied Scandinavian softwood decking and joists for all the UK competitions.
