The men were near Guarda in central Portugal when they became trapped by flames.
They were employed by Afocelpa, which specialises in firefighting to help pulp and paper companies.
More than 100 firefighters are still battling the blaze.
Last year forest fires killed 16 people in Portugal and destroyed more than 300,000ha of forest and agricultural land.
