More than 3,000 jobs are under threat at national DIY retailer Focus DIY which has gone into administration.
Ernst & Young has been appointed administrators of the 178-outlet company which, despite efforts by majority owner Cerebrus had experienced tough trading conditions, intense competition from other DIY chains and eventually was unable to pay its debts.
The company will continue to be operated as normal by administrators while prospective buyers are sought.
Focus DIY was bought by Cerebrus for just £1 in 2007 and just two years later it had to take out a company voluntary arrangement in order to stay alive.
