The Scottish Forest Industries Cluster (SFIC) and Scottish Enterprise are holding their second e-Business for Forestry Conference.
The event takes place at the Hilton Dunblane Hydro on November 26 and comprises a whole day of workshops and presentations, with a keynote speech from Professor Arto Usenious of Finland’s VTT Building and Transport organisation. He will address the use of online media in “optimising and controlling the value chain from forest to end product”.
The SFIC maintains that online trading is proving a major success for forestry businesses. In a survey it undertook earlier this year it found that 47% of forestry companies that have adopted e-business have reduced operating costs, 46% have improved products and services and 52% have improved business competitiveness.
The Cluster says that the e-Business conference is relevant for tree growers, harvesters, hauliers, timber processors, marketers and retailers.
