The use of glulam to create the support structure for the glazing was intended to create a warm and contemporary feel to the building.

The complex geometrical nature of the extension presented challenging technical details, with every pane of glass being a different shape and size.

The only robust way to finalise the glazing schedules was to fully model the building in 3D, with the glulam beams also being modelled.

Careful consideration of movement tolerances between the different materials was vital to the project.
