Howie Forest Products has delivered 1,106m³ of timber in a single day, beating its previous record by 50m³.

Both records were set in April as the company had a “very good month overall”, according to sales director Keith Ainslie.

Mr Ainslie said that the good weather had played an important part in driving up sales and added that the company had had a positive start to May.

However, he expected a tightening in the market as levels of imports declined and timber in the system disappeared.

“April was a record month for us,” he said. “But I expect it to be a challenging market for the next two to three months and we’ll start seeing a tightening in the market come August.”
