Russia’s largest producer of softwood plywood has started manufacturing a new product with increased water resistance.

Ilim Timber’s Bratsk plant in Siberia has also increased its capacity by 50,000m³ to 200,000m³ following a €12m investment project last year.

The new machinery, supplied by Raute OYJ, replaced the factory’s existing veneer production technology.

The plant, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, produces 1.2mx2.44m panels ranging in thickness between 6.5mm-21mm, made from pine and larch.
