The British Woodworking Federation has launched its Policy Manifesto Woodworking in the UK in which it highlights manufacturing, construction, renewable materials and closing the skills gap as its four priorities.

In a call to members the BWF said: "This is a once in five-year opportunity to ensure our sector gets the recognition it deserves from politicians."

The Builders Merchants Federation has set out how it would like to see the supply chain and government working together. Its manifesto promotes ways to get cash flowing including better schemes to help SMEs raise finance, enforcement of prompt payment, and accelerating new home building.

"More merchant and parliamentary visits are planned for the rest of the year and in the lead-up to the election," said BMF managing director John Newcomb.

The Timber Trade Federation is working through the Timber Accord to prepare its arguments for raising wood’s Westminster profile.
