Modified wood Kebony has enjoyed a high profile use as flooring in the new Hackney Picturehouse.
The material was used extensively as flooring to the four-screen cinema.
Kebony has also recently been featured in the 2011 Global Cleantech 100 list as a product providing a global solution to the use of endangered tropical timber and treated woods.
It was selected from thousands of entries and listed in the materials category against its achievements in innovation, market size and growth.
The Norwegian company uses a patented process of kebonisation to permanently improve the wood properties. The finished product can be used in various applications, including decking, cladding, roofing, windows, furniture and other construction materials.
Recent projects include four beach shelters at Bexhill, the company’s first UK residential project in Highgate and the Yarmouth Harbour redevelopment, where decking is featured.
