Ireland-based Kingspan confirmed it was in dicussions following press speculation about a possible takeover deal. But the company refused to comment on Irish press rumours that it was planning to expand its timber frame business with a further acquisition.

The Hytherm/Xtratherm Group, which is based in Ireland and the UK (Navan and Runcorn) manufactures a range of rigid insulation boards. The Xtratherm range of closed cell rigid foam inuslation includes XT/TH for use between studs or as an insulated lining in timber frame constructions.

Hytherm manufactures expanded polystyrene systems for use in walls, floors and roofs.

In a statement to the Irish Stock Exchange, Kingspan said: “There is no certainty that these discussions will lead to a successful conclusion, and in addition any final agreement with the owners would be subject, inter alia, to the approval of the Irish Competition Authority.”
