A £2m restaurant clad in what is claimed to be sustainable Austrian larch is taking shape in London’s St James Park.

The building, which replaces the Cake House restaurant previously standing on the site, is being constructed by Ashe Construction of Hitchin.

A timber-decked terrace flanked by larch columns will offer restaurant-goers views across to Whitehall and the London Eye. The reinforced concrete frame sits beneath a curving roof which will be covered with topsoil and planted with grass.
