G8 nations will not take a tough stance on illegal logging at an important summit, according to a document leaked to the press.
Reuters says the leaked draft shows summit leaders will only commit to voluntary actions against the trade in illegal timber when they meet at Gleneagles on July 8-10.
The US is believed to have put pressure on G8 members to water down any commitments made. The summit is expected to insist that logging countries have to take their own share of responsibility in helping end the illegal trade.
