Western Forest Products is to close its Vancouver-based Silvertree sawmill two weeks ahead of its scheduled Christmas shut down because of a log shortaage.
The company’s president and chief executive, Reynold Hert, said poor winter weather had affected the towing of logs to the mill from Vancouver Island.
The mill will be shut from December 10 to January 17 instead of the planned Dcember 23 to January 4.
