Irish sawmiller Woodfab Timber is assessing the damage to its main line after a fire at the mill early on Sunday morning.

It is thought that the blaze, which took more than 10 hours to extinguish completely, has destroyed the main line at the premises in Aughrim, Co Wicklow, but the added-value lines, kilns and offices were not affected.

It is understood that the fire is being treated as suspicious.

The family-owned business produces around 100,000m³ of fencing, decking and pallet wood per year and exports approximately 65% to the UK.
