Wood-based panels manufacturer MEDITE SMARTPLY is backing the TTJ Awards 2026 by becoming Headline Sponsor for the event in its 30th anniversary year.
The company, which manufactures MDF and OSB, is backing the UK’s longest-established timber industries awards event as it celebrates its own significant milestones this year.
MEDITE SMARTPLY joins the likes of fellow sponsors such as Timber Development UK – sponsor of the Gold Award (the Timber Trader of the Year) – in supporting the TTJ Awards, which canvasses wood product buyers across the UK & Ireland to vote for their best-performing suppliers.
Chris King, MEDITE SMARTPLY’s Managing Director – Commercial, explained why the company was supporting the TTJ Awards.
“The TTJ Awards have played an important role in recognising excellence across the timber industry for three decades, and we are delighted to support this landmark 30th anniversary event,” Mr King said.
“As MEDITE celebrates 50 years of MDF expertise and innovation, it is a fitting opportunity to recognise the businesses and individuals who continue to drive our industry forward.
“This year has been particularly significant for us, not only as we mark five decades of the MEDITE brand, but also with the announcement of our €75m investment in our Clonmel manufacturing facility. As the largest current investment in MDF production in Western Europe, it demonstrates our long-term commitment to quality, innovation, sustainability and supporting customers across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
“Supporting the TTJ Awards is a natural extension of that commitment. The awards celebrate the ambition, progress and excellence that define our industry, and we are proud to be part of an event that continues to recognise those achievements while helping shape the future of the timber sector.”
TTJ editor Stephen Powney welcomed MEDITE SMARTPLY’S important participation in the TTJ Awards 2026.
“MEDITE SMARTPLY is making a massive investment in its Irish production facilities, showing it is looking to the future, as well as celebrating the 50th anniversary of the MEDITE MDF brand in Europe,” he said.
“We’re excited to have the company on board as a major backer of the TTJ Awards, as we look to put a spotlight on all that is great about the timber industries!”
The TTJ Awards is a lunchtime event and this year takes place in Mayfair at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square on September 18, comprising a Pre-Awards Drinks Reception (sponsored by Arxada), the Awards luncheon, Awards Ceremony, and Post Awards drinks celebration. The Awards host, from the world of sports broadcasting, will be announced imminently.
The Awards is attended by a cross-section of the timber industries, including merchants, distributors, manufacturers, importers, sawmills, industry associations, NGOs, as well as key equipment and services suppliers.
