MOMA, the investment company representing the family of entrepreneur Dr Thomas Muhr, has acquired all shares in Holz Centrum Regensburg (HCR), a German sawmill operator, from Outdoor Life Group.

The companies did not disclose the value of the transaction.

HCR operates a sawmill in Wenzenbach, Bavaria, and has over 50 years’ experience in wood processing, mainly for products used in gardens and packaging. The facility is located in one of Europe’s largest pine and spruce forest regions.

Outdoor Life Group, the former owner, is headquartered in the Netherlands and operates internationally in the development, production and distribution of garden and packaging timber products.

MOMA was supported throughout the sale process by Grant Thornton in Germany.

The advisory and legal teams at Grant Thornton assisted with negotiations, due diligence, and completion of the share purchase agreement.

The transaction was led by partners Dr Mathias Reif and Boris Kröpsky from the legal division, alongside Harald Weiß in financial advisory and Dr Stephane Müller from the commercial team.

Dr Thomas Muhr family office head Hans-Werner Bieler said: “The high demands during the complex and challenging negotiation phase were successfully met with the interdisciplinary team from Grant Thornton, working together with us to bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion.”

The acquisition places HCR and its long-established sawmill under family-backed ownership.
