Sawmiller and timber merchant Mid Sussex Timber has increased capacity at its Forest Row facility thanks to a new Stenner resaw supplied by Daltons.

Nottingham-based Daltons, main UK distributor for Stenner stand-alone resaws, supplied an ST130 resaw, incorporating 950mm diameter pulley wheels, a maximum blade width of 130mm and 30kW electrics. It features a feed speed of up to 60m per minute.

Mid Sussex mill manager Ian Budgen welcomed not only the increased capacity but also the “user-friendly technology provided by the HMI control system”.

“Its performance far outstrips the previous model and we look forward to the prospect of a second new Stenner machine being installed to replace another aging resaw in the not-too-distant future,” added Mr Budgen.

Daltons directors Francis Dalton and Andy Walsh visited the merchant to discuss the logistical problems of replacing the old 36in resaw. Daltons’ technical director Steve Balchin supervised the installation of the new machine.

“We have had this enquiry for some time and it is particularly gratifying to bring matters to a successful conclusion, partially resulting from the W8 exhibition and also at a time when business can do with all the success stories it can get,” said Francis Dalton.
