Mr Shineton, who has served as president and CEO since 2004, will become vice-chair of the board. Peter Wijnbergen, currently senior vice-president and chief operating officer, will take over as president and CEO on January 1.
"The last 10 years, while challenging at times, have been the most satisfying years of my career and I am pleased to be leaving the company in such a strong position," said Mr Shineton. "I have the utmost confidence in Peter’s ability to lead Norbord, given his decades of experience in the OSB industry and with the company. I look forward to continuing to support Norbord in my new role as vice-chair of the board."
Mr Wijnbergen was appointed chief operating officer in September 2010. During his 26 years with Norbord, he has held senior positions in operations, strategic planning and sales, marketing and logistics.
