A new-look safari-themed hotel close to Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo has used trussed rafters to create its striking roof.
The Holiday Inn Chessington uses 470 trusses from Harlow Timber Systems to create the two main roof structures, which are separated by a glazed atrium.
The £75,000 contract required 15 different truss patterns, bracing timbers and tongue and groove boarding for cladding on the soffit overhangs.
The trusses span up to 11.7m from the outside wall to a central supporting wall, and the upper area is weathered with plywood topped with a felt roofing system.
