Paul Snape of WS Logistics assumed the mantle of president of the Timber Trades Benevolent Society (TTBS) at a central London AGM basking in hot temperatures on Thursday May 1.

For Mr Snape it is a second opportunity to head the TTBS, the timber trades’ own charity, as his first stint as president was impacted by the Covid Pandemic, when much of the charity’s fund-raising activities were cut short.

He officially took over the reins at the AGM held at the Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly and paid tribute to current president Tony Shelton for his leadership and creative ideas, alongside TTBS general manager Christella Golby.

During Mr Shelton’s term as president, the TTBS website was relaunched and a new social media campaign was started – opening up new avenues of communication between the charity, the trades and potential beneficiaries.

“You have helped transform the Society with some of the ideas you’ve brought,” said Mr Snape.

“Some of the initiatives we are planning to do will change people’s perspective of the TTBS.”

Over the next 12 months, TTBS will have a strong emphasis on its Patrons initiative to boost support in the trade, as well as launch over further social media platforms.

The TTBS has been using Linkedin as a regular method of communicating its initiatives, but is also using Facebook and X, with Instagram one of its latest targets.

Chris Offa was confirmed as TTBS vice-president, while trustees Richard Bagnall and John Taylor will be joined by Tony Shelton. Luke Hunter, director of Evelyn Partners, gave an update on the TTBS investments and the situation in global economies.

Guests in attendance at the AGM included TDUK and TTJ.

The latest version of the TTBS newsletter is now out and included with the May/June issue of TTJ.
