A timber frame leisure centre has been designed to fit in seamlessly within an area of natural beauty just 20 minutes from the Lake District.

The £550,000 building was designed and built by Bakewell-based Pinelog Ltd at Pine Lake, one of seven UK timeshare leisure resorts run by the Grand Vacation Company (GVC).

The centre, comprising a 14x6m pool, gymnasium, beauty therapy room and changing rooms, forms an integral part of GVC’s £2m development programme.

Scandinavian redwood was used for the structure, with glulam curved trusses supporting the ceiling to give a vaulted roof style. Half-round timber exterior cladding blends in with the existing lodges, while split log internal walls were chosen to provide condensation-free characteristics.
