The 100,000ft2 factory in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire, will produce an extra 4,000 timber frame units a year and is designed to help satisfy growing demand for timber frame construction. It will double Prestoplan‘s output in the next three years and create 100 new jobs.

“It represents a significant investment by Prestoplan and confirms our long-term commitment to quality and innovation,” said business development director Dave Hart.

The company has also been chosen as one of two preferred timber frame suppliers to the Procure East Partnership, which consists of five housing associations.

The partnership, which involves East Thames Housing Group, Circle Anglia, The Hyde Group/Minster Housing Association, Flagship Housing Group and Nene Housing Society, is designed to speed up construction across eastern England using MMC.

Prestoplan said more housing organisations were investing in MMC as demand for affordable homes grows.
