Rorvik Timber AB is to reduce production at its sawmills by 15% in further measures to meet the challenging market.

The Swedish wood products group said the cutbacks will reduce production by 135,000m³ and come as the financial and construction markets in Europe and the US adversely affect its business. Exports account for around 40% of Rörvik’s annual sales of SKr1.9bn.

Shift patterns at its Boxholm and Tvärskog sawmills will be reduced from three to two and two to one respectively, with a total of 52 employees affected.

The production cut will come into force early next year and follows the earlier announced downtime at the group’s seven sawmills from December 19 to January 12.
