Heavy rainfall in British Columbia has kept thousands of loggers idle and caused an estimated C$10-20m damage to culverts and roads.
The Coast Forest Lumber Association called the deluge a disaster, with loggers prevented from felling because of washed out roads.
About 400mm of rain fell in the Pemberton-Squamish area over five days. Other areas are also affected as the ground is too wet to allow logging.
Brian Zak, president of the Coast Forest Lumber Association, said the rain was the latest in a number of industry setbacks which have included severe forest fires, layoffs and the continuing softwood lumber dispute.
He said it was impossible to know exactly how much damage the rain had caused until floodwaters recede.
