A roof truss lorry driver who caused the death of a couple in Hereford after his vehicle hit a bridge has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Graham Morgan, 49, had been driving the vehicle, operated by an independent haulage contractor, on February 7 with its loads of roof trusses manufactured by nearby Glosford Timber Solutions, when the lorry hit a bridge in Belmont Road.

Two pedestrians, couple Tom Matts and Terri-Ann Barnett, were hit by the falling roof trusses and later died.

Morgan had already admitted two charges of causing death by dangerous driving.
