Rosewood Packaging has centralised its operations on Tyneside after outgrowing its existing locations in the area.

The company, which has seen its turnover rise by 500% over the past five years, has acquired larger premises to bring together the administration, warehousing and distribution services which were taking place on five different sites.

The new head office is now at West Chirton North Industrial Estate, North Shields.

Rosewood’s timber packaging manufacturing facilities were previously located at two sites separated by the River Tyne and 10 miles apart. The company picked one of the sites, Alder Road, to increase capacity and absorb the other Jarrow-based factory.

Additional opticut saw technology was purchased and a field area behind the Alder Road factory converted into a timber yard,

The government’s Manufacturing Advisory Service assisted with the complex movement and installation of the machinery.

Rosewood has also centralised its corrugated packaging facilities at Gateshead.

“The achievement of the three key objectives that we set ourselves, will, we anticipate, be the springboard to further growth of the company,” said group managing director Stephen Lord.
