The Savill Building in Windsor Great Park has been shortlisted for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize.

The building, designed by Glenn Howell Architects, features a leaf-shaped timber floating roof and is constructed from European larch, English oak, Scandinavian spruce LVL and birch plywood.

Projects shortlisted for the Stirling Prize are chosen by RIBA for their contribution to British architecture in the past year and, along with the Savill Building, the include the America’s Cup Building in Spain; Dresden station, Germany; the Portugese concert hall Casa da Musica; the German Museum of Modern Literature and the Young Vic Theatre in London have mde the shortlist.

“These ambitious projects are the very best in contemporary architecture, reflecting the work of our members in Europe as well as the UK,” said RIBA president Jack Pringle.

“The shortlist once again presents us with a fantastic range of projects and the tremendously difficult task for the judges to choose a winner.”

The Savill Building has already proved to be popular with competition judges after picking up the Gold Award in the Wood Awards 2006.
