A public consultation document which aims to develop a “forestry framework” for south-east England has been launched.

“Seeing the Wood for the Trees” will look at four ways in which trees, woodlands and forestry could be better used to benefit the area.

These include what woodlands can do for quality of life; the contribution woods make to biodiversity; increasing the value of woodlands to the regional economy; the importance of protecting and caring for woodlands.

The project is being undertaken by the South East Forestry Framework Steering Group which is keen to hear from anyone with an interest in the issues. The consultation is open until May 28 and further information can be obtained from the steering group, c/o the Forestry Commission, South East England Conservancy, Alice Holt, Farnham, Surrey.
