The impact of new technology on the timber and wood products industry will be the focus of a study by technology consultancy the Generics Group.

The report, to be published in April 2003, will examine how technology can be used to lessen industry impact on the environment or be exploited for commercial success and the effect of existing and potential government legislation on current technologies and costs. Generics will talk to equipment suppliers, academics, designers, material providers and government environmental policy makers, plus complete a survey of related global patents within the last 10 years.

It is primarily aimed at wood and value-added wood product companies and others looking to capture market value within the sector.
