Stora Enso experienced a major earnings downturn in the last quarter of 2005 and reports a net loss for the year as a whole.
The company saw sales rise in the last three months to €3.65bn, but made a net loss for the period of €244m.
Sales for the year were up from €12.4bn for 2004 to €13.2bn, but the net loss for 2005 was €126m.
Looking forward chief executive Jukka Härmälä said that there were indications of improvement in various of its paper and board product markets, but the outlook for timber remained competitive.
“Demand for wood products is steady, but continuing oversupply is keeping the market challenging,” he said.
