A finger-jointing and glue laminating component mill costing €8m will be built in Sweden by Stora Enso Timber.

The facility, planned for the company’s Ala sawmill, will introduce finger-jointed and glued components into the Swedish market, particularly in window construction.

Building will start next month and be completed in August 2003. Annual production capacity wll be four million running metres in two shifts, corresponding to 26,000m3 of components.

Business Line director Olle Berg said: “This investment supports Stora Enso Timber’s strategic focus of increasing product value. There is a clear trend towards more engineered and adapted wood products to support our customers’ processes in joinery industries.”

The present components mill at Ala will close and personnel shifted to the new facility.
