In March exports were 12% lower than the same month a year ago and in the first quarter of 2013 were 13% behind the first three months of 2012.

The UK remained the largest importer, but imports declined in all products. Sales of sawn and planed softwood in the UK were 553,000m3 in the first quarter, down 9.6%; planed softwood fell 4.6% to 318,700m3; sawn pine was down 14.1% to 154,400m3; and sawn spruce was 79,800m3, down 18.4%.

The average value per cubic metre of exports also fell across all products. Sales abroad achieved SKr1,758 for sawn and planed softwood, down 5.7%.

Planed realised SKr2,030, down 1.9%, sawn pine SKr1,657, down 7.6% and sawn spruce SKr1,620, down 6.6%.
