A Georgia,USA, timber dealer has been accused of defrauding a sawmill of US$4m over a 10-year period by charging for logs that were not delivered.
John F Thompson III is charged with paying the scales operator at the Barnesville sawmill to create phantom loads of timber. False bills were sent and payments made to Thompson’s company between 1987 and 1997.
