The contraction of the replacement window and conservatory market in 2004 is expected to worsen this year, according to a new report from Palmer Market Research.

The report, Private Sector Home Improvements; Windows, Doors and Conservatories, says that last year the whole home improvement sector declined, the first downturn since 1992. This year will see a “more severe drop”. Windows, entrance and patio doors, conservatories and secondary glazing are all suffering.

The better news is that wood’s market share in all product categories except conservatories is on the increase.
