Timber Frame Services has provided a roof solution for a luxury flats development in Surrey made more difficult by complicated planning restrictions.
The Trussed Rafter Association (TRA) member used a ring of perimeter mono-trusses in conjunction with parallel chord lattice beams to create additional space at the The Beeches, Camberley.
At roof level, purlins were needed to support the bearing ends of the mono trusses but because of the mansard roof design they could not sit on the external loadbearing walls without protruding from the structure.
Timber Frame Services overcame this by using laminated beams to support the purlins. The loads from the beams were transferred via posts into the floor structures below and to the foundations.
