However, the rule will not apply until 51% of the members have signed up voluntarily and a date has been fixed by a subsequent AGM.

“This is good news for The Federation and good news for the environment,” said Neil Donaldson, the TTF’s newly-elected president.

“The RPP is a tool which helps members steadily reduce the risk that illegal products are inadvertently entering the supply chain via their suppliers and supports the high expectations members sign up to in our Code of Conduct.

“This resolution underscores our commitment to fighting illegal logging and gives members the flexibility to introduce the system into their businesses when it suits them.”

The RPP which was launched last year currently has 39 signatories with others in the pipeline.
