A marketing initiative to promote Canadian white cedar on the UK market is under way.
The Québec Wood Export Bureau through Hampshire-based Canada Wood UK and in collaboration with Forintek Canada Corp has produced a brochure detailing the benefits of the timber which is valued in Canada for its unusual combination of properties.
Canada Wood UK manager John Park said: “People don’t think that white cedar is as good as western red cedar – it is often seen as the poor relation. But in fact it has its own merits – and is ideally suited for things like shingles and garden furniture as one of its properties is that it does not splinter.”
