A wizard named Gore is helping schoolchildren to understand and appreciate the forest environment in a new woodland Literacy and Sculpture Trail.

Children from five Monmouthshire schools took part in the launch of the curriculum-linked 1.25km circular trail, which aims to stimulate story-telling ability and learn about forests.

Gore, who features in an accompanying teachers’ pack, was the guide, while local sculptor John Hobbs provided several of his works for the trail.

The initiative was developed by the Forest Education Initiative, Forest Commission Wales and British Waterways.
