An archive of futuristic materials, including timber and wood-based products, has been compiled by design expert Chris Lefteri.
Mr Lefteri, who organised the 100% Materials showcase at the 100% Design exhibition in London last year, said one prototype material is wood veneer on foam which could be suitable for consumer packaging, tablemats and desktops. Joining foam to the veneer adds flexibility.
He said new materials and ideas are often derived from fresh ways of processing the material itself or even just using it in a new application.
