The 21ha former landfill is part of othe Newlands project which will rejuvenate more than 400ha of derelict land across Greater Manchester and Merseyside. It is the area’s latest environmental regeneration scheme.
Woodland helps regeneration
Schoolchildren joined representatives from the Forestry Commission, Northwest Regional Development Agency and Manchester City Council last week to mark the launch of a £1.7m community woodland in north Manchester.
