Brooks Bros opens up space

Brooks Bros UK Ltd has increased storage capacity by 25% at its Northern branch with specially designed Combilift forklifts helping keep aisle widths to a minimum.

Three 4-way C5000SL forklifts have been supplied to Brooks Bros’ Skelmersdale site, with an extra door at the front of the cab allowing drivers easy access to the aisle. Brooks Bros uses a free stacking method for timber packs, with drivers required to place wooden bearers on packs during picking.

“The standard sliding SL side door is then too close to the packs to allow the driver exit and access,” said site general manager Darren McCarthy.

Combilift also installed a guided aisle system at the branch to improve efficiency and safety, with rails in storage areas, the machining facility and around doorways.
