Consultec and Gang-Nail combine to aid timber frame construction

Holbrook Timber Frame has combined Consultec UK's design software with Gang-Nail Systems' timber engineering solutions to enhance the production of complete building envelopes.

South Wales-based Holbrook has employed Gang-Nail Systems' trussed rafter and Ecojoist engineering software alongside Consultec Timber Frame, soon to be rebranded as Consultec Framing, allowing it to see how the respective timber elements will appear and work within Building Regulations.

Gang-Nail's Matrix management application has been used to marry the two sets of software together, providing a "seamless solution" that has enabled Holbrook to make time and cost efficiencies.

"Using Consultec alongside Gang-Nail's engineering and software, we have found the most efficient way forward in timber frame design and production," said Holbrook director Philip Smith.

"This allows us to adjust the framework of a structure in both 2D and 3D formats, which enables us to avoid any design errors and allows us to accurately estimate the amount of timber material needed and the relevant costs incurred as a result," he said.
