Panel manufacturers have been busy on the new product front. Stephen Powney looks at some of the latest offerings

Egger’s new worktop concept is designed to make kitchen design easier by presenting door and worktop combination ideas together. Twenty decors form a new collection in either 38mm Eurospan or 50mm Eurolight thicknesses, with splashbacks and upstands also stocked. The collection brochure contains A4 laminate samples and large application pictures to support retailers.

Oy Puucomp AB has appointed Panel Agency Ltd as its UK and Ireland agent for its range of veneered panels aimed at the bespoke interior surfaces market. The products involve a range of veneer substrates, including MDF, aluminium sheet or gypsum fibreboard, the latter combining the advantages of fire resistance and high density.

Medite has launched a lightweight MDF product called Medite Ultralite. Quoted benefits are easier handling and reduced tool wear, with applications including exhibition stands, stage sets, shopfitting and the aircraft industry.

Sonae’s new Innovus range consists of 150 decors in MFC, high pressure, continuous and compact laminate. Sixty decors are being produced in the UK and the rest made at Sonae’s European plants.

Concrete formwork

Concrete formwork is the focus of Finnforest’s new birch plywood panel FormPLUS, which includes a moisture repellent coating designed to reduce ripple and grain marks left on architectural concrete surfaces by conventional ply. It’s available in standard sizes from 1200-1525mmx2400-3660mm.

UPM’s latest offering is WISA Bonded Floor Solutions, a combination of WISA plywood and Betamate adhesives, which is bonded to the truck trailer body, eliminating the need for mechanical fixing. UPM says the system increases rigidity, durability, acoustics and offers improved corrosion protection.

Finsa FINlight, composed of two faces of Fibranor thin MDF with a core of Iberpan 300 (300kg/m3) MDF, has been developed for applications requiring thick and low weight boards. Its DM COMPAQ1100 HDF board, an alternative to solid laminate, is bonded with moisture-resistant resins and is designed for around 70% of solid laminate applications but costs 35-40% less.

DLH has launched T&G Lumin plywood for flooring and roofing applications in 12-21mm thicknesses in either 4, 5 or 7-ply boards.
