Sikkens assesses life cycle costs

19 May 2004

A computer program which precisely calculates the whole life cost for any given window project has been developed by Sikkens.

"Life Cycle Cost" (LCC) follows on from the launch last year of Sikkens' Life Cycle Inventory Model, known as SLIM, which calculated life cycle assessment.

Now LCC assesses the economic cost of joinery components and other materials over their use and maintenance to end of life.

Sikkens said the LCC model could determine the coating system that offered the best performance criteria with minimal economic impact simply by entering key information such as the required service life.

The system would then calculate specific use, maintenance and end-of-life requirements for the duration of the project and the associated costs.
