Winter appointed Forests Forever chairman

Peter Winter, timber producers trader at CP Timber Ltd, has been appointed as chairman of Forests Forever, the environmental committee of The Timber Trade Federation. He succeeds Jermain Cheetham, timber and sustainable product policy manager, UK and Europe, at Wolseley.

Mr Winter will be supported in his new role by deputy chairman Bob Bastow, environment and QA manager at SCA Timber Supply.

Speaking of his appointment, Mr Winter recognised the work of Jermain Cheetham who got the timber industry “to recognise and implement improvements to environmental performance, among numerous other things”.

“But, while timber is now widely recognised as a hugely sustainable material within the construction industry, there is still a huge amount of work to be done before it becomes the automatic choice for architects or specifiers,” he said.
