Italian woodworking machinery show Technodomus attracted 33,483 visitors in April, an 8.5% rise compared to its first show in 2010.

Foreign visitor attendance at the Rimini event six percentage points to 37% of all visitors, with sizeable contingents from Turkey, Brazil, South America, China and Eastern Europe.

Large Italian woodworking machinery manufacturers SCM and Biesse had a large presence at the event, which rivals the established and larger Milan-based show Xylexpo (May 8-12).

“Technodomus 2012 exceeded expectations, accentuating its growth curve,” said Rimini Fiera chairman Lorenzo Cagnoni. “The results satisfied a sector that exports three-quarters of its output and therefore depends on international relations.”

Stand space covered 45,000m², 3,000m² more than the 2010 event, with 300 exhibitors in total.

SCM Group’s stand exhibited more than 80 machines across 7,000m², attracting more than 5,000 visitors.

Xylexpo organiser ACIMALL has had a well-publicised spat with Technodomus over the latter’s decision to time its event just before Xylexpo. Last year it threatened disciplinary action against members who attended Technodomus.
