SCA has been appointed one of the world’s most ethical companies for the fifth consecutive year.
The Swedish forest products group was one of 145 firms selected by US-based Ethisphere Institute from among thousands of enterprises as having leading ethical business practices.
SCA president and CEO Jan Johansson said SCA’s strong focus on ethics and sustainability has led to increased competitiveness and differentiation which gave the group a business advantage.
SCA’s sustainability/ethical policies includes production of biofuels – it intends to triple production of biomass for its forests by 2020 – as well as excluding at least 5% of its productive forest land from timber harvesting and a target to reduce accident rate by a quarter before 2016.
